Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What areas of Los Angeles do you cover?

Los Feliz, East Hollywood and Atwater is my coverage area for cat and dog sitting and dog walking. 90027 represent!

Q: How long does my pet need for a drop-in visit?

The ideal visit length depends on your pet's breed, age, temperament, and daily routine. Most dogs benefit from 30 to 60-minute visits, especially if they need a walk, feeding, playtime, or medication. Dogs get a 15 minute walk for 30 minute visits, or up to 30 minute walks with 60 minute visits. Dogs that only need a drop-in visit should have a minimum of 2 visits a day.

Cats need 30-minute visits for feeding, litter cleaning, and affection (if they want it), at least 1x a day. Many people prefer 2x a day as their pet needs medicine or eats wet food, or mix and match a morning 60 minute visit and night 30 minute visit. This will give me time to entertain and enrich your cat for a long period of time in the morning.

Puppies or pets with medical needs may require longer or more frequent visits throughout the day.

Q: How many visits should I book?

Dogs require between 2-4 visits a day. You can mix and match visit lengths for dog walking and enrichment.

Cats require 1-2 visits a day.

Q: Can you administer medication?

I am able to administer oral, topical, or injected medications to cats. I have experience with oral & topical medicine for dogs. I also have a certificate for Administering Medications to Pets Using Fear Free Strategies from Pet Sitters International and use fear free techniques when medicating animals.

Q: Will you update me on my pet while I’m gone?

I always send videos and photos so you know your pet is being well taken care of!

Q: Can you work with reactive or aggressive dogs?

I do not commonly work with reactive or aggressive dogs. These types of dogs need a professional with experience in reactivity in dogs.

Q: What if my trip runs long?

I’m happy to accommodate and can usually work with you on adding more days.

Q: Will you water my plants?

I am happy to water your indoor plants. If you would like me to water your yard, I would prefer you book a 60 minute appointment so your cat/cats can still get quality human interaction time. Also happy to bring in mail and packages, roll your garbage bins in/out as part of a regular drop-in visit.

Q: What is your pet sitter insurance for?

Pet sitting insurance protects both the sitter and the pet owner in case of accidents, injuries, property damage, or medical emergencies during a visit. It offers peace of mind by covering unexpected situations while I’m caring for your pet.

Q: What would help make drop-ins easier?

I love a detailed list or print-out of instructions for your pet. We will go over everything at your meet & greet, but I still like to have directions! I will always ask questions if I can’t figure something out, and feel free to text me with anything you forgot to write down!

Disclosing any issues beforehand is also super helpful, ie ‘my pet likes to drink water from the faucet only’ or something like that.

Q:What if my cat has a medical emergency when I’m gone?

Before your first booking, I’ll have you fill out a quick form with your vet’s info. If there’s ever an emergency, I’ll reach out to you first so we can decide what’s best. If I can’t get ahold of you, I’ll contact your emergency contact, and if needed, take your pet to your vet or the nearest emergency clinic. Your pet’s safety and comfort will always be my top priority.

Q:What if YOU have an emergency and cannot make it to your scheduled appointment with my cats?

Part of my intake form includes a space for your emergency contact: someone you trust who can help if something unexpected comes up. If there’s ever an issue, I’ll contact you first so you can reach out to them. If I can’t get in touch with you, I’ll contact them directly to make sure everything is taken care of. I’ve never yet missed an appointment, but I like to plan ahead so your pet is always covered, no matter what.

Q: What kind of experience do you have?

I have never NOT had cats in my life, and also have a great deal of experience with senior cats, cats with dementia, cats that need medicine, etc. I also had a senior dog with cancer, so I have experience with senior dogs, medicine administration and patience.

I believe strongly in the fear-free tactics taught to vet techs, and use these skills in my pet portrait studio. It means I always watch for signs of discomfort, watch for boundaries, get on their level, don’t touch unless I get consent, don’t grab at animals, and allow them to make the choice to come to me. I try to make medicine administration as easy as possible using pill popper tools, pill pockets and other tricks, and in my experience, diabetic cats don’t mind the shots as long as you do it correctly.

I believe all animals need enrichment, but I absolutely don’t interact if they aren’t interested. Some animals want to be left alone, and I always will. Some pets like me to just be in the room, and not be pet. Some pets love attention, pets and playing. Every single pet is different and requires a different way of handling the appointment.
